Students! There are parking spots in the front of the student parking lot that have signs that say "Reserved for Silent Auction Winner" Those parking spots are reserved and you CANNOT park there unless you have a special permit. Even if you see the space isn't being used, you cannot park there because the student assigned to the parking spot may have FLEX and will use the spot throughout the day. Again, do not park in the Reserved for Silent Auction Winner spots, there are still spots available in the Stadium parking lot and you may park there.
The Engineering Academy had three teams place 4th, 3rd, and 1st place in the Summit County Engineer’s Annual Miniature Bridge Building Contest. 4th place team members are Ryan Noble, Evan Legnani and Ricky Legg. 3rd place team members are Maxwell Wright, Lorena Villareal and Emilee Elliott. And the 1st place team is Kaeden Cyc, Carter Jagger and Sam Bortnick. Congratulations to them all!

Hey Riders! It’s time to embrace the cold for the 9th annual Polar Plunge! It’s this Friday, February 25th from 2:30-5:30 at the Overlook in Kent. All proceeds benefit the Don Beckett Memorial Scholarship Fund. You can sign up during all lunch periods this week at the concession stand. See you there!
Good morning! Do you have your thinking caps on? If so, here’s a trivia question for you. According to Olympedia.org, who is the first Black woman from any country to win an individual gold medal in Olympic speedskating? You don’t know? Any guesses? Well… it’s Erin Jackson who just did so in this year’s winter Olympics! If you like trivia, and you want to try your luck at answering some Black History Trivia, stop by the Black History Month Trivia Table during the lunch periods on Friday, February 25th! All faculty, students, and staff are welcome to try their luck! Correct answers will win a chance to enter a raffle for a $25.00 Door Dash gift card! Stop by this Friday and check it out! This is a reminder that the Junior class will be taking the ACT, a state mandated test, this Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Classes for 9, 10 and 11 grade students will be asynchronous. Which means that Freshmen, Sophomores and Seniors will be working from home that same day, Tuesday March 1, 2022.
Junior students are expected to be at school by 7:30 am. Students are able to ride the bus to school and get breakfast as on a typical school day. Grab and go lunches will be available once testing is complete for students who requested them . Two opportunities to ride the bus home have been arranged, leaving at 12:45 pm and 2:29 pm. Students should bring calculators and number two pencils. Please encourage your Junior to come rested, nourished and prepared to do their best.
The Boys and Girls Bowling Teams both competed in the Sectional Tournament over the weekend. Both teams bowled well but in the end only seniors Tara Sefchick and Matt Richards made it out and on to the Districts. Tara led the way for the girls with a 548 series and Matt led the boys with a 720 series. Good luck at Districts and keep it rolling!
Good luck to Anya Ferner for qualifying to the State Diving championship. She will be diving Thursday at CT Branin in Canton, Ohio. Go Anya!!
Congratulations to the Swimmers this weekend having an amazing meet at Cleveland State. Congrats to Justin Justin Barzellato breaking his own 100 break stroke record and breaking the 200 IM record that has been recorded since the 90’s. Great job to all the swimmers reaching their PR’s and representing your Rough Riders with pride.
Congratulations to our Rough Rider boys basketball team for finishing off the regular season by winning at Cuyahoga Falls on Friday night by a final score of 57-47. The Rough Riders were led by senior Jayden Reynolds with all 14 of his points coming in the 2nd half. Great job Riders! The boys will begin postseason play tomorrow night when they host Ellet at 7:00 pm. Come out tomorrow night and support our Rough Rider boys!

All senior students will attend the Senior Guidance Assembly tomorrow morning, Thursday, February 17, 2022. Students should report to their 1st period classes at the beginning of the day, and then will be called down to the auditorium around 7:50 a.m. (note that Thursday is an early release day for students) and will most likely last through 2nd period. This assembly will cover some important information presented by the counseling and activities offices, including graduation information, awards programs, and senior class events. Please plan on attending. NOTE: Seniors who have flex first period should arrive by 7:55 in order to attend the assembly.
