56th ANNUAL POPs CONCERT: The talented student musicians in the Theodore Roosevelt High School Music Department will showcase a concert of pop and jazz favorites during the annual POPs concert on Friday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Richard Roberts Auditorium. This year’s theme is “Give Love.” The Kent community has enjoyed this special performance since 1970 when students successfully lobbied their music teachers to include a concert of pop music as part of the yearly schedule of performances.
This year, soloists, vocal ensembles, instrumentalists, dancers, the jazz band, and the full choir program will perform 30 musical numbers. Some notable selections include: "Purple Rain" by Prince, "Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen, "Feels Good" by Chuck Mangione, "Creep" by Radiohead, “Blowin’ in the Wind” by Bob Dylan, “Big Yellow Taxi” by Joni Mitchell, and many more!!
