Semifinalists and Commended Students  in the 2024 National merit Scholarship Competition

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and potential college undergraduate Scholarships.  The goal of this program is to identify and honor exceptionally able students and encourage them to pursue rigorous college studies.  The competition is open to all U. S. high school students. 

This year, Theodore Roosevelt High School is home to two NMSQT Semifinalists.  They are: 

Benjamin W. Baron is a Semifinalist.  His parents are Patrick and Julie Baron of Kent. 

Ethan J. Young is a Semifinalist.  His parents are Jesse Young and Angela Barzizza-Young of Kent. 

Each of these students will move on in the competition and apply to become a Finalist.

This year, Theodore Roosevelt High School is home to three NMSQT Commended students.  They are: 

Keith Hancock is a Commended student.  His parents are Landon Hancock and Sylvia Rhodes. 

Fadia Naqash is a Commended student.  Her parents are Fauzia Nazir and Tasaduq Naqash. 

Cash Liedel is a Commended student.  His parents are Paula and Jay Liedel. 

These students will not move on in the competition but are honored due to their high scoring efforts.
