The COVID-19 pandemic is a community dilemma. It is similar to a marathon with how long it is taking to push through, carry on and see this to the end.  We can ALL make a difference in helping to stop the spread of the virus to ultimately end the pandemic. Please consider getting vaccinated if you and your family have not already.

Also, please keep your child home if they have one or more of the following symptoms:

Cough
Difficulty Breathing
Shortness of Breath
New loss of taste or smell
Runny Nose
Nasal Congestion
Fever
Nausea or Vomiting
Diarrhea
Headache
Sore throat
Chills
Muscle aches
Body shakes

Please call 330-676-7603 or 330-676-8600 to report their absence daily, including symptoms.

Any one of these symptoms alone or in combination indicates a student may have a COVID-19 infection, resulting in immediate medical isolation and student dismissal from school. This does not mean your child has COVID 19. In fact, it is much more likely these symptoms are due to another cause such as influenza (the flu), ear infection, common cold or strep throat. Please contact your healthcare provider for further guidance. If your child does not have a healthcare provider, your school nurse/clinic can help you by making a referral.

Return to School Options:

Medical Clearance -For a student with a chronic health condition (like allergies) that have the same signs and symptoms of COVID-19, health care provider clearance is required before returning to school.

Tested for COVID-19 – Students with a negative test results may return to school the following day. Students with a positive test results may return to school after a 10 day isolation period from the first day of symptoms or the day of a positive test with no symptoms. At-home tests are available through your child’s school. Please contact Ms. Sopko in the main office at jsopko@kentschools.net if you need a take home test.

Not Tested for COVID-19- Students may return to school after at least 1 day (24 hours) fever free without the use of fever-reducing medications (like Ibuprofen or Tylenol); and improvement in symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath);  and at least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared

Quarantined due to exposure to a positive COVID-19 case at school - The above timelines do not apply. You will receive a letter of instructions about your student returning to school and sports activities. Students who are vaccinated will be allowed to return to school and sports sooner, per the Ohio Department of Health guidelines.

Vaccinated students - If your student has been vaccinated against COVID-19 please email Ms. Sopko at jsopko@kentschools.net with your student's vaccination record.  This will change the required duration of school related quarantines, if we have the vaccination records on file.

We are Kent and we are strong. We will get through this together ❤️❤️❤️.
