Technology Professional Development

Kent City Schools is proud to announce several increased opportunities for professional development in integrating technology within the curriculum.

February 1-3, 2010, Kent teachers: Chris Carman, Chris Knopick, Dan Young, Lindsay Potok, and Courtney Baliman represented Kent City Schools by presenting a variety of sessions at eTech, Ohio’s annual Educational Technology Conference.  The theme for this year was “Shaping a Path for the 21st-Century Student” and the conference included over 225 exhibitors, and acclaimed keynotes and featured speakers. Several other teachers from Kent also attended the conference and were able to experience best practices and hands-on sessions.

Directly following that, SmartEd Services’ FREE, exclusive 2010 Educational Technology Conference was held in Cleveland on February 3-4, 2010. This offered approximately 20 Kent City Schools’ teachers to experience the possibilities of the 21st century classroom with SMART technologies as well as exploring the best practice solutions from leaders in educational technology.

March 19, 2010 teachers will have an additional FREE opportunity to attend the NEO Tech Conference, which will take place at Quaker Square Inn Conference Center at the University of Akron. This conference is designed for Teachers, Administrators, Technology Staff and anyone interested in the use of a wide variety of technologies in Teaching and Learning in grades K-12. One of the advantages to this FREE and local conference, is the fact that teachers from within all of the member districts of Neonet, will be sharing best practices and presenting the sessions. This will encourage future collaboration as well as building relationships between professionals.
