We are pleased to announce that we have completed the new website for Kent City Schools. We believe this dramatic renovation is going to offer our parents, students, teachers, and community greater access to our schools through the internet. We’ve revised the look and content of our website, including new features such as calendars, teacher blogs, and much more!

As with any major construction project, there may be changes or modifications. Over the next few months, you will notice new features, up-to-date information, and increased presence from teachers and their classrooms. Three Kent families, who have hosted teachers from the People’s Republic of China, were honored with a Friend of Kent City Schools award from the Kent Board of Education. This is the third year that the Kent City Schools has participated in the Ohio Department of Education’s “Visiting Chinese Guest Teacher” program.

Kent City School District would like to welcome Xu Zhimin or “Minnie”, who just arrived from the People’s Republic of China. Minnie has earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English Literature. She will teach Chinese I, II, and III at Roosevelt this year, along with introductory Chinese at Stanton Middle School.

This is Kent’s third year in the Ohio Department of Education’s “Visiting Chinese Guest Teacher” program. The arrangement is by mutual agreement between the Ohio Department of Education and the People’s Republic of China’s own department of education, called the Hanban. Each year, the Hanban sends a different Chinese teacher to us.

She is residing with Kent residents John and Jane Gwinn, who have agreed to host her.
