Meet J. Schwartzhoff

Meet John Schwartzhoff at the Fall Sport’s Banquet tonight! He is very excited to be back in a middle school.

Mr. Schwartzhoff will serve as the Interim Assistant Principal for Stanton Middle School from November 2011 – January 2012. His experience includes serving as a middle school administrator for 14 years including Principal at Kimpton Middle School in Stow, Nordonia Hills Middle School, and James A. Garfield in Garrettsville. He is also a familiar face in the Kent Schools community serving as the interim Assistant Superintendent for Kent City Schools durning the 2009-2010 school year.

Interim Assistant Principal

Dear Stanton Parents and Families,

I am writing to make you aware of several changes which will be in effect for the next two months. Dr. Timothy Dortch, our District Director of Student Services will be taking some time off beginning October 31st to recover and rehabilitate after an upcoming elected surgical procedure. Mr. Larkin, our Assistant Superintendent recently approached me with a request to be the Interim Director of Student Services due to Dr. Dortch’s prolonged absence. While I am very happy at Stanton and love working with our students and staff, I felt that I would step up to the challenge and have accepted Mr. Larkin’s request.

In my place, Mrs. Kathy Scott, our very capable Assistant Principal will become Interim Principal of Stanton Middle School. Mrs. Scott and I pride ourselves on working hand-in-hand and I have the utmost confidence in her ability to lead our incredible school. Everything that the current and previous administrations have worked so hard to accomplish will continue and our work will not skip a beat. Mrs. Scott is a true professional with over 25 years experience of teaching and administrating in Kent. She will do a phenomenal job!

To fill Mrs. Scott’s role, Mr. John Schwartzhoff will serve Stanton students, staff and families as our Interim Assistant Principal. Mr. Schwartzhoff has a wealth of educational knowledge and expertise. You may recall that Mr. Schwartzhoff served Kent City Schools during the 2009 – 2010 school year as Interim Assistant Superintendent. Prior to his most recent service to KCS, Mr. Schwartzhoff was the Assistant Superintendent in the Nordonia Hills School District for a number of years. In addition to his time as a central office administrator, Mr. Schwartzhoff has also been a teacher and administrator at the middle level for 14 years. Mr. Schwartzhoff has enjoyed a distinguished career in education and his experience and expertise will be welcomed at SMS!

In closing, I would like to thank our Stanton families for being so flexible. It has been my pleasure to get to know you over the course of the last year-and-a-half and I look forward to continuing to build many more wonderful friendships. While I have a challenging two months ahead, I look forward to returning to SMS in early January. Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education and also thank you for your flexibility during this brief change in administration. If you have any questions about this brief change, please feel free to give me call. My phone number is listed below.
