New Course Offering: Arabic

Breaking News from the Foreign Language Department:

Effective for the 2010-2011 school year, the Kent City Schools will be offering an introductory Arabic course to RHS students and the current 7th & 8th graders at SMS (Classes of 2015 & 2014 respectively). The course will be taught by Mrs. Mikati, who also teaches the same course (over one semester) at Kent State University.

Students who are interested in applying for Arabic I for the upcoming school year should visit Roosevelt’s Guidance department and request to be enrolled in Arabic. There will be a sign up sheet available.

Dave Starkey Memorial Baseball Tournament

Cody Mulneix earned his 1st Varsity win pitching 5 strong innings and Justin Nelson and Jake Hyre supplied the offense with 3 hits each to beat Waterloo 14-4.  Shawn Wegener was dominant on the mound throwing a complete game 3 hitter striking out ten.  He also collected 3 hits in earning his 1st Varsity win over Aurora 6-1.   The Roosevelt Baseball program would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s ten team “David Starkey Memorial” a success.

Congratulations Tracksters

A great evening Friday for the Track and Field program.  Hosting our annual Rough Rider Invitational, our Men’s team was crowned runners-up.  Meet champions Ryan Anderson and Javontey Parker were double winners.  The Women were crowned champions with Kassondra Spangler, Devan Mercer and Erin Waples were crowned meet champions.  Great job Tracksters!

Student Council President Elections

Hey students it’s your chance to be heard!  Spring elections are here!  On Wednesday, April 21st, Lindsay Gleason and Savannah Kirtley, who are both running to become your next Student Council President, will be giving their speeches.  Voting will take place during lunch periods on the same day. Take this opportunity to be a part of the spring elections.

Donate Prom Dresses

Donate!  Donate!  Donate!  DECA is selling prom dresses on April 30th after school.  BUT, we need your help!  Donate your gently used formal dresses and accessories.  Bring dresses and accessories to room 517 by April 29th to help make prom more affordable for fellow Lady Riders!
