Varsity Baseball beat Springfield last night 13-3. Zach Brett pitched a complete game for the win and Garrett Hickle, Cory Molson and Jake Hyre each collected multiple hits.
Last night the Varsity softball team defeated Springfield in league play 3-2. They are now 4-1 in the league and play Springfield again tonight. Great job ladies.
Breaking News from the Foreign Language Department:
Effective for the 2010-2011 school year, the Kent City Schools will be offering an introductory Arabic course to RHS students and the current 7th & 8th graders at SMS (Classes of 2015 & 2014 respectively). The course will be taught by Mrs. Mikati, who also teaches the same course (over one semester) at Kent State University.
Students who are interested in applying for Arabic I for the upcoming school year should visit Roosevelt’s Guidance department and request to be enrolled in Arabic. There will be a sign up sheet available.
Cody Mulneix earned his 1st Varsity win pitching 5 strong innings and Justin Nelson and Jake Hyre supplied the offense with 3 hits each to beat Waterloo 14-4. Shawn Wegener was dominant on the mound throwing a complete game 3 hitter striking out ten. He also collected 3 hits in earning his 1st Varsity win over Aurora 6-1. The Roosevelt Baseball program would like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s ten team “David Starkey Memorial” a success.
This weekend the Varsity softball team went 3-0 to win their pool in the Akron Racers Spring showcase tournament. On Friday we beat Cuyahoga Heights 11-0 in 5 innings. Saturday we beat NDCL 5-4 and Firelands 12-8. Tonight they will play Springfield at home.
A great evening Friday for the Track and Field program. Hosting our annual Rough Rider Invitational, our Men’s team was crowned runners-up. Meet champions Ryan Anderson and Javontey Parker were double winners. The Women were crowned champions with Kassondra Spangler, Devan Mercer and Erin Waples were crowned meet champions. Great job Tracksters!

Girl’s Lacrosse defeated Laurel yesterday 11-10! 5 goals were scored by Abby Bradford, 2 by Gigi Knudson and Shawni Zabo, Nuri Black and Emily Hook each had one. Great job by goalie Audra Parrish with 13 saves. Keep up the good work ladies!
