August  2019,

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Theodore Roosevelt High School,

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year at Roosevelt.  We cannot wait to see our outstanding students who fill our hearts with joy and optimism.

Summer has been tough on the Roosevelt family.  Two dedicated, passionate, and kind teachers passed away this summer.  On July 6, Mrs. Repinski Intervention Specialist and Tutor passed from lung cancer.    Dr. Lambert, Science Teacher was in a bicycle accident that ended his life on July 29. Both were an integral part of Theodore Roosevelt High School and truly loved the students and their colleagues.  Kathy and Mitch will be missed.

We are fortunate that the students, staff, and community have a special bond to help us work through these tragedies together.  I have no doubt this loss will inspire us all to work even harder on our mission: to create the best possible situations for all students to learn; intentionally nurture relationships with all students and colleagues; and support all students and staff to ensure we all have the tools and resources to succeed.

With our mission in mind, our professional development will focus on the type of school we envision.  We are at a place where, together we can put some processes and procedures in place to collectively achieve our mission and clarify our focus and identity.  The hope is that all of our students and staff have a successful and fulfilling 2019-2020 school year.

Final Forms: Beginning last year, the KCS district adopted Final Forms as a means of digitally collecting all necessary student forms, including Emergency Medical Authorization forms.  We are excited about this transition, as it will allow parents/students and the school to consolidate the process of completing and turning in forms.  Please refer to the following link for more information on Final Forms: complete these forms by August 30.

Once again, welcome back!  Let’s make this another great year at Theodore Roosevelt High School. It is a privilege and an honor to be a part of a community that cares so deeply for its young people.  Thank you for your support and dedication.
