BRANCHING OUT FOR SEPTEMBER 2019

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Theodore Roosevelt High School,

It was so refreshing to see our students smiling faces on the first day of school. We kicked the school year off with an all school opening assembly entitled, The Best Version of Us. A few of our students and staff members shared some things that they are passionate about with the audience. As a school community, we believe that if one finds a healthy passion or purpose in life, there is a good chance he or she will become the best version of themselves.

The assembly also focused on our Core Values, which we call The Roosevelt Way. We strive to put these values into action each and every day. For example, a respectful student will learn about others instead of judging them. A student with integrity will always be honest and do what is right even when it’s difficult. A dedicated student will be devoted to their task and complete it to the best of their ability. A student who strives for excellence will work tirelessly to achieve their goals. A responsible student realizes it is their duty to follow through with tasks and in the process be open to helping others. A student who serves is one who is supportive and kind to all.

The second day of school we engaged our students in writing “S.M.A.R.T.” goals. Writing a personal goal is an important skill we want our students to possess. Their personal goal was to focus on their studies or their mental health using a specific smart goal format

Wednesday, September 4, (and continuing every Wednesday thereafter) begins our Professional Development Early Release schedule. Students will be released early from school at 1:42 p.m. Please review the Early-Release Days DESCRIPTION for more information and specific dates throughout the year. Likewise, please be aware of the 2019-20 Early Release Professional Development Revised Bell Schedule for those days. If your student chooses to remain in school until 2:30, they are expected to be in a supervised location. This time will be used for teachers to work on their instructional or mental health goals for students.

On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish all a happy and productive school year. Thank you for the privilege of working and learning with you as we all use our talents for another successful school year.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION (EMA) FORMS: These MUST be completed through Final Forms ASAP. Students cannot attend the Homecoming dance if an EMA has not been completed. Please use this Final Forms link to complete your forms.
