BRANCHING OUT, November 2016

November 1, 2016

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Theodore Roosevelt High School,

We are days away from a hotly contested and emotionally charged presidential election.  It is important to remember that while opinions may differ, all voters should be aware of the issues and select the candidate they feel will be most likely to provide a better future for our country and our world.

We respect the fact that our Roosevelt students are the future and we are so proud of their many accomplishments.  Last week I witnessed the soccer team in an outstanding playoff game.  The game was tied after two sudden- death overtime periods.  Players were giving 100% and were exhausted at the end of the game.  Most players did not get home until 11:00 p.m.  The next morning I spoke with one of the players and asked him if he had gotten any sleep.  He said that when he got home, he had to do some studying. The next night I was at an orchestra concert and sure enough, that same student was playing his instrument.  He is just one example of so many of our students who are dedicated to their classes and extracurricular activities and who work so hard to achieve excellence on a daily basis.

Also, how proud we are of our Academic Challenge team who recently won first place at the Channel Five Academic Challenge, beating Avon Lake and North Ridgeville.  Congratulations to Carter Hale, Will Kulis, and Perkins Pringle as well as to the team adviser, Craig Foreman, and all of our excellent teachers who have helped to encourage these young men.  The episode will air on Dec. 3 on Channel 5.  Don’t miss it!

A critical part of being successful at the high school level is often the ability for students to develop positive working relationships with their teachers.  Parent/student teacher conferences will be Monday, November 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, November 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  To schedule a time, email Mrs. Harris, our main office secretary, at ke  When you email Mrs. Harris, enter the day and time you are available and indicate the teachers you would like to meet with.  If you are unable to email Mrs. Harris, please call her at 330 676-8700 or stop in at the main office during school hours.
