Mobile Dentist to Visit Jan. 31, 2018

“Shine your Smile Day” is coming.

WALLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is hosting Smile Programs…the mobile dentists on

Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

We have invited the Smile Programs…the mobile dentists to coordinate on-site dental care at our school because we know of how important taking care of your children’s teeth is to keeping them healthy. Best of all, your child can receive dental care at NO COST TO YOU, as Medicaid, CHIP and most other insurances cover 100% of prevention treatment.

Tooth decay is the most common chronic and infectious disease among children. In addition, kids with oral disease can suffer with pain and difficulty eating.

The dental team will set up a mini-dental office at your child’s school, and provide dental services for all children who return completed forms.

The Smile Programs has been servicing schools, and creating healthy smiles, for over 18 years. All dentists are state licensed and will conduct a complete dental exam.

Signing up your children to see the mobile dental team is an easy & convenient way for them to get necessary dental care. If you want your child to see the dentist on “Shine Your Smile Day,” all you have to do is fill out the dental permission slip (dental formPdf 2017)  and return it to the school.

You can learn more about Smile Programs…the mobile dentists by going to www.mobiledentists.com and watching the short video about the dental care program.

Nov/Dec Newsletter

Dear Walls Family,

During the month of November, our teachers and students have been focusing on gratitude and giving thanks.  If you have not noticed our showcase, please take the time to read what our 4th graders have written.  It truly brings to mind all the things for which we have to be thankful.  I would like to thank YOU, our families, for sharing your children with our Walls community.  It is such a joy to work with each of them!

We are entering a VERY busy time of year.  Below you will find some important announcements and updates, as well as a list of important dates.

Similar to last year, our staff and 5th grade ambassadors would like to announce our SCHOOLWIDE CANNED FOOD DRIVE.  Here are the details:

  • Canned food and non-perishable food items can be brought to your child’s classroom November 27-December 8
  • There will be a class competition for the most canned foods collected, with the winning class receiving a special ice cream treat from Mrs. Singer
  • Proceeds from the event directly benefit WALLS families in need for the holidays

Effective immediately BUSES ONLY will be allowed in the oval between 8:15 and 8:40 a.m. and 3:10 and-3:30 p.m. Should you arrive during these times, you MUST use the car drop-off/pick-up  line on the side of the building.

Also, the lost and found has a mountain of coats and jackets. When you are here for your child’s conference on Monday or Tuesday (11/20-21), please take a look in the lost and found for any coats, jackets, hats, gloves, lunch boxes, etc. that you may be missing.  They will be needing these items for recess during the colder months ahead.

As a final reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 21, due to parent teacher conferences. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Please call the office if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Heidi B. Singer
