This message is for the parents of 7th grade students:
The Portage County Health Department is offering two Tdap Shot Clinics for any 7th grade student who has not yet received the required tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis vaccine also known as Tdap.
This is a new state requirement for the 2010-2011 school year. Please note that students who do not furnish proof of the shot will be excluded from school after September 14, 2010.
The clinics are today, Thursday, September 9, 2010 and tomorrow, Friday, September 10, 2010 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Portage County Health Department.
The Portage County Health Department is located at 449 South Meridian Street, 1st Floor, Room 134, Ravenna, Ohio.
The cost is $10.00 for children and Medicaid, Buckeye, Unison and Caresource are accepted.
Please furnish proof of the immunization to the nurse, Marianne Kitakis, RN.

Students who have made a difference through volunteering could win $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C.! The Prudential Spirit of Community Award recognizes students who have distinguished themselves through volunteer work.

The University of Akron is holding a special “We Are IT” conference for girls in grades 8-10 who are interested in exploring a career in information technology. It will be held Friday, November 19 from 8:30-2:00 on U of A campus.

Nomination forms must be signed by a teacher, school counselor or school administrator and must be mailed in by October 1st.
Once selected, students will receive an acceptance packet with more information.
