Welcome Back!

Mr. Gates, Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Singer

Dear Stanton Families,

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing summer with family and friends.  Many of you were out and about in the community at sporting events, picnics, and community celebrations, such as the annual Heritage Festival.  At Stanton, the excitement of the upcoming school year is in the air as we look forward to welcoming you all back.  Mrs. Singer, Mrs. Scott, and I look forward to working with you and helping your student achieve success during the 2010-2011 school year.

As many of you may have heard, I am assuming the role of building principal as Tom Larkin moves to the position of Assistant Superintendent. My love for Kent through my experiences as a KSU student-athlete, teacher, and community supporter makes me so excited about the opportunity to work again in a place I have always held dear.  What a year it is going to be!

At Stanton we will continue to provide a family-like environment that is student-centered and nurturing. We will always be focused on helping to meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of each student and family. Towards that end, we will continue to stress the importance of the Stanton Rough Rider Golden Rules:

  • Respect All Students
  • Respect Yourself
  • Respect All Adults
  • Report All Dangers

The Stanton newsletter will be sent out via e-mail and posted on our website.   We ask that you please fill out the E-MAIL section on your child’s EMA, or contact Patty Finley at 330-676-8633 so that we can update your information and continue to communicate with you in this manner.  If you require a hard copy of the newsletter, please call 676-8611.

Thank you to those of you who I have already met or reconnected with for making me feel so welcome in my return to Kent and the Stanton family.  We look forward to filling our halls and classrooms with the vibrant minds and smiling faces of your children.  Please feel free to call any of us in the office if you have any questions about the start of the school year. We will see you all soon!

Sincerely,

Justin Gates, Principal

Progress Book Passwords

All of our families should now have access to grades via Progress Book. If you are a 6th grade parent, you should have received your child’s log-in information at Back to School Night. All 7th and and 8th grade passwords and log-in information should have come to you via a letter from the school in the mail. If you need another copy of your password/log-in information, or need help with Progress Book, please contact our secretary: Ms. Cathy Wirick at (330) 676-8620.

Rotation Classes are Changing

Attention all students and parents:

6th, 7th, and 8th grade rotation classes (art, physical education, health, interpersonal communications, industrial technology, life skills, library/media) will be changing this week and next. It is ideal that the student keep a copy of their own personalized schedule in order to travel efficiently to the next rotation. If a schedule is misplaced, please come to the guidance office and we will get you another one.  If students or parents have any questions, please direct them to the school counseling secretary, Cathy Wirick.  You can find her in the guidance office or by calling 330-676-8620.

Don’t forget to check out your school counselor’s blogs. Have a wonderful day!
