Language Arts (Mrs. Henry):  Update grade sheet, Daily Reading Practice #4,  Setting sheet,  “Heracles” questions due Today.  Read Myth Rough Face Girl,   Read “Scarface” myth.  First journal check tomorrow: (5 journals).

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 1st and 2nd Period): STAR groups, PEMDAS practice, integrated work

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 6th and 8th Period):  STAR groups, angle intro and lessons, HW: BLUEPRINT extra credit

Social Studies (Mr. Pekarcik): Update grade sheet. CBQ#23. Explain how Persia became an empire under Cyrus the Great and expanded under Darius I. New vocabulary. Read text pages 260-263 and work on graphic organizer.

Tuesday

Language Arts (Mrs. Henry):  Daily Reading Practice #4, First journal check (5 journals), Read and discuss “Scarface” myth, graphic organizer due tomorrow. Review cause and effect. Vocabualry packet #1. Due Thursday.

Social Studies (Mr. Pekarcik):CBQ24. Explain how Persia became an empire under Cyrus the Great and expanded under Darius I. Re-read and discuss text p. 260-262. Small group activity and presentations: Advisers for Darius’s Empire.

Wednesday

Language Arts (Mrs. Henry): Daily Reading Practice#4, review setting, characterization and theme.  Workshop, Vocabulary packet #1 due tomorrow.

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 1st and 2nd Period): STAR groups, PEMDAS practice, integrated work

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 6th and 8th Period):  Star groups, Special types of angles partner activity, Hw: Special angles WS (time in class)

Science (Mr. Mostov):

Social Studies (Mr. Pekarcik): Discuss Cultural Odyssey artifact assignment, due Friday, 10/19. CBQ25. Explain how the Persian empire grew under Darius and describe the conflicts between the Persians and the Greeks. Read text p. 262-265 and complete graphic organizers.

Thursday

Language Arts (Mrs. Henry):  Daily Reading Practice #4, Vocabulary packet #1 due.  Introduce myth “Jason and the Golden Fleece” , Read together and discuss.

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 1st and 2nd Period): MOD, PEMDAS practice, integrated work

Math (Mrs. Lukey, 6th and 8th Period):  MOD, Interior and Exterior angles

Science (Mr. Mostov):

Social Studies (Mr. Pekarcik): CBQ26. Describe the conflicts between the Greeks and Persians . Finish text pages 262-265 and complete battles chart. Watch short video on the Battle of Thermopylae and complete and discuss graphic organizer.
