Greetings Legacy families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Fractions, Decimals, and Percents Equivalency. We will also model these on grids.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Human Environment and Interaction. How environment impacts people.

SCIENCE: Completed unit on Rocks and Minerals. We will study Landforms next week.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Writing Research Papers (two week project).

OTHER:

First Nine Week Grading Period ends Friday, Oct 20th. Report Cards will go home Oct. 27th

Legacy Leader Party – Fri, Oct 20th -students who earned grades of “C” or better, less than 10 Legacy marks , and no suspensions will have earned the party.

Harvest Fest – After School – 4:15 – Friday, Oct 20th – all students invited to attend. $3.00 for tickets and extra money needed for food and game tickets. Parents must provide transportation home.

New rotation classes start: Wednesday, Oct 18th.

Parent Conference Sign-ups will be sent home October 27th.

MATH: Starting Chapter 2 : Area, Perimeter, and Compound Area.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Working on Google slides of Regions – due Tuesday. Test will be Friday.

SCIENCE: Completed topic on Minerals and started Vocab Books for the year. We will study Rocks and the Rock Cycle next week.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Working on Summer Reading assignments next week.

OTHER: Continue to check your child’s agenda planners daily and progress book weekly.
Interim Grades were sent home with your child today.

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Individual Chapter I Test will be this Tuesday. Students will be taking a portion of it on Edulastic and the other portion on paper and pencil.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Author’s Purpose. Welcome to Ms. Sabah Farsi from Saudi Arabia; she is a KSU visiting National Teacher Scholar. She will be observing and teaching in Miss Canter’s classes until November of this year.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Classifying and Comparing regions. The students will be creating Google Slide Presentations next week.

SCIENCE: Mineral Properties/Labs. Vocab Quiz on Tuesday. The students have flashcards to study. We will learn about Rocks and Rock Cycle next week.

OTHER:
Interim grades will be loaded and sent home next Friday 9-22-17.
Please check Progress Book Weekly to stay on top of your child’s grades.
Legacy Leader Program: Ask your child how they are doing with their marks and grades? Reminder: Students can not earn no more than 10 marks or receive grades lower than a “C” to earn the party. Suspensions exclude the student from the party. All parents had to sign contracts to show understanding of program for your child to earn party as well.
All t-shirts were distributed – Thank you to all who purchased a shirt 🙂

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Writing Numerical Expressions – We will finish up Chapter 1 next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Five themes of Geography. How Latitude affects climate.

SCIENCE: We completed a mini unit on Scientific Method – we took a Quiz today. We will start a unit on Rocks and Minerals next week.

Language Arts: Informational Text Features

OTHER: Please send in a paper bag or stretchy book cover – make book covers for Math Books.
We could also use donations of stickers for Science Scrapbooks 🙂
Reminder: Turn in signed Legacy Leader Contracts.
Students can not earn more than 10 Legacy marks and can not earn grades lower than “C” for the grading period to attend the Legacy Party.

Greetings Legacy Parents,

This is our weekly newsletter:

The students are getting the hang of the lockers, schedules, and routines. We spend the first few weeks of school working on transition.
Reminders: Turn in any forms that were sent home via mail and back to school night.
We are still taking Legacy T-shirt orders until next Friday.
We also need each student to turn in the Legacy Parties Contract by end of grading period to qualify for the party.

We will start posting what each academic class is doing next week on this page.

We are working on the following:

Math – Chapter 8 Team and Individual Tests next week.

Social Studies – Ancient China

Science – Alternative Energy comic strips and web-quest.

Language Arts – All About Me Books

OTHER: Legacy Leader party – Plum Creek – Wed, May 24th – Permission slips will go home on Monday. Students bring a snack to share and a water bottle, may also bring ball gloves, soccer balls, basketballs etc. Dress for outside weather. Pizza will be provided.

Reminder: Students must EARN the Legacy Leader Party – No grades lower than a “C”, no suspensions from the office, must not EARN any more than 4 Legacy marks for the grading period. Ask your child how they are doing? Students who did not earn the party will be supervised here at school or parents can opt to keep your child home.

No book bags the last day of school.

MATH – Collecting and analyzing data and writing statistical questions.

Social Studies – Studying Ancient China.

Language Arts -All About Me Books.

Science – Alternative Energy Comic Strip Project.

OTHER:
Legacy Leaders Program – Ask your child how they are doing with their Legacy Leader expectations and marks?
If your child has lower than a “C” in their classes, more than 4 Legacy marks, and/or earned a suspension during the grading period do not qualify for the End of the Grading Period Picnic. This has been our policy since first day of school.
Children who do not qualify for the picnic, will be supervised here at Stanton.

Last Day of School – Wednesday, May 24th -Plum Creek Park Picnic – Permission slips and info will be sent home soon.

We are working on the following:

MATH: Creating Box and Whisker Plots.

Language Arts: Poetry Presentations.

Science: 5 Non-renewable Energy Sources- QUIZ – Wednesday

Social Studies: Market Pricing – Economic Lemonade Sale – Tuesday.
Donations of cups, gallon jugs of water,and straws are appreciated.

Legacy Leader Program – No more than 4 Legacy marks and grades above a “D” and no suspensions from office, to qualify for last day of school picnic at Plumcreek Park. Ask your child about how they are doing?

Interim Grades were sent home with your child TODAY>

Last Day of School – May 24th – trip to Plumcreek for those students who qualify. Bring a snack or dessert to share and a water bottle. Pizza will be ordered for lunch (teacher paid).
Permission slips will be sent home soon.
