Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Writing Numerical Expressions – We will finish up Chapter 1 next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Five themes of Geography. How Latitude affects climate.

SCIENCE: We completed a mini unit on Scientific Method – we took a Quiz today. We will start a unit on Rocks and Minerals next week.

Language Arts: Informational Text Features

OTHER: Please send in a paper bag or stretchy book cover – make book covers for Math Books.
We could also use donations of stickers for Science Scrapbooks 🙂
Reminder: Turn in signed Legacy Leader Contracts.
Students can not earn more than 10 Legacy marks and can not earn grades lower than “C” for the grading period to attend the Legacy Party.

Greetings Legacy Parents,

This is our weekly newsletter:

The students are getting the hang of the lockers, schedules, and routines. We spend the first few weeks of school working on transition.
Reminders: Turn in any forms that were sent home via mail and back to school night.
We are still taking Legacy T-shirt orders until next Friday.
We also need each student to turn in the Legacy Parties Contract by end of grading period to qualify for the party.

We will start posting what each academic class is doing next week on this page.

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

Math – Chapter 8 Team and Individual Tests next week.

Social Studies – Ancient China

Science – Alternative Energy comic strips and web-quest.

Language Arts – All About Me Books

OTHER: Legacy Leader party – Plum Creek – Wed, May 24th – Permission slips will go home on Monday. Students bring a snack to share and a water bottle, may also bring ball gloves, soccer balls, basketballs etc. Dress for outside weather. Pizza will be provided.

Reminder: Students must EARN the Legacy Leader Party – No grades lower than a “C”, no suspensions from the office, must not EARN any more than 4 Legacy marks for the grading period. Ask your child how they are doing? Students who did not earn the party will be supervised here at school or parents can opt to keep your child home.

No book bags the last day of school.

We are working on the following:

MATH – Collecting and analyzing data and writing statistical questions.

Social Studies – Studying Ancient China.

Language Arts -All About Me Books.

Science – Alternative Energy Comic Strip Project.

OTHER:
Legacy Leaders Program – Ask your child how they are doing with their Legacy Leader expectations and marks?
If your child has lower than a “C” in their classes, more than 4 Legacy marks, and/or earned a suspension during the grading period do not qualify for the End of the Grading Period Picnic. This has been our policy since first day of school.
Children who do not qualify for the picnic, will be supervised here at Stanton.

Last Day of School – Wednesday, May 24th -Plum Creek Park Picnic – Permission slips and info will be sent home soon.

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Creating Box and Whisker Plots.

Language Arts: Poetry Presentations.

Science: 5 Non-renewable Energy Sources- QUIZ – Wednesday

Social Studies: Market Pricing – Economic Lemonade Sale – Tuesday.
Donations of cups, gallon jugs of water,and straws are appreciated.

Legacy Leader Program – No more than 4 Legacy marks and grades above a “D” and no suspensions from office, to qualify for last day of school picnic at Plumcreek Park. Ask your child about how they are doing?

Interim Grades were sent home with your child TODAY>

Last Day of School – May 24th – trip to Plumcreek for those students who qualify. Bring a snack or dessert to share and a water bottle. Pizza will be ordered for lunch (teacher paid).
Permission slips will be sent home soon.

Hello Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

Math: Mean, Median, and Mode and different ways to display data.

Language Arts: Poetry Project and Pronoun Songs. Please bring in a container for the project, (Ex: cereal box, Kleenex box etc)

Social Studies: We will be starting a Economic Lemonade Stand Business Competition.
We are in need of donations: Gallon Jugs Water, Straws, 10 – 12 OZ – Clear Plastic Cups. If students bring in something, they get a discount on purchasing supplies.

Science: Starting a Energy Unit – Non-renewable.

Legacy Leaders – Letters were sent home today with students about the status of his/her marks; if your child has numerous marks.
No more than 4 marks, no suspensions to go on last day of school picnic.
We also had a TEAM meeting today with all the kids about end of the year behavior and academic expectations.

MATH: Completed Chapter 7 – Individual test next week. We will start Chapter 8 – DATA Unit

Language Arts: Presenting Story-bird stories – Narratives.

Social Studies: QUIZ 0 Monday – Economics
AIR Social Studies WEDNESDAY – 8:00 – Part I – 11:00 – Part II.
Please be to school on time and well rested. This will be our last day of state testing.

Science: Animal Classification – Taxonomy – Students will create a Animal Poster next week.

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Finishing up Chapter 7. MATH AIR TESTING – Monday and Tuesday of next week. Please come to school rested and eat a good breakfast. Testing begins promptly at 8:00 am each day. The kids have worked really hard on their 6th grade Math skills and now is the time to “show” what they know 🙂 Encourage your child to perform at their best on these important assessments.

Language Arts: Narratives: Storybirds – You can log in to Storybirds.com to see your child’s work and order any of their writings.

Social Studies: Introduction to Supply and Demand and how it sets Market Prices.

Science: Animal Classification. Students will begin poster animal project soon. Vocab Quiz – Thurs – April 13th.

OTHER: Legacy Leader Program – Limit of 4 Legacy marks and good grades, no suspensions, will earn the students the end of the year picnic at Plum Creek Park. Talk to your child about how they are doing? Many tickets for good choices have been given out also 🙂

Friday, April 14th – No School – Good Friday

Remind your kids to have materials and supplies for class.
Donations of Kleenex would be appreciated 🙂 Lots of colds and coughs going around :/

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

Math: Working on the standard division algorithm for fractions;The Super Giant One. Math A.I.R. Testing begins April 10th and 11th.

Social Studies: What, Who, and How to Produce. The students will create their own product next week – DUE: Friday, March 24th – no exceptions.

Language Arts: Narrative Elements

Science: Microscopic Things – Classifying Living Things.

OTHER:

Third Grading Period Ends – Friday, March 17th – Grade Cards will be sent home – March 24th.

Spring Break – March 27 – March 31st – Mo School

Legacy Leader Program – Students must EARN no more than 4 Legacy Marks and earn grades of “C” or higher, no suspensions, to earn the Last Grading Period Party to Plum Creek the last day of school. Please encourage your kids to follow our 10 Legacy Leader characteristics and finish out the school year in a positive way.

Hello Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

Math: Chapter 7 – Rates and Division Algorithms.

Social Studies: Economy Unit – Quiz on March 17th

Science: Completed Cell Unit – using Microscopes and introducing Classifying Animals.

Language Arts: Characterization
A.I.R. ELA State Testing – Starts Monday and Tuesday of next week.
Please get to bed early and eat a good breakfast.
Testing promptly starts at 8:00 – Please be on time for school these days.

OTHER: Bowling Permission slips were sent home today.Students who earned C’s or better and no more than 6 Legacy marks for the third grading period may attend. Students not attending will stay back and be supervised.
Please send in permission slips and $5.00 to child’s homeroom teachers by Wednesday, March 15th.
Bowling trip: Friday, March 17th.
Third Grading Period Ends – March 17th
Spring Break – March 27 – March 31st
