Legacy in the News! Friday, November 16th, 2018

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Chapter 4 – Ways to solve Ratio problems.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Tiered Vocabulary

SCIENCE: We took a open note Weathering and Soil Test. We will study the process of drilling for water – to relate it Salva’s Story – A Long Walk to Water. We will start a unit on Matter – Atoms after Thanksgiving break.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Thank you to all who donated food for our Culture Fest, much appreciated and the kids loved it! We will start a unit on Egypt after break.

Interims: Grades loaded on Progress Book today 11-16-18.
Ask your child how they are doing with their Legacy marks?
2nd Grading period party for Legacy Leaders will be a Bowling Trip – more information coming soon.

Monday, November 19th – All School Reads – A Long Walk to Water.
Tuesday, November 20th – Parent /Teacher Conferences – For those that signed up.
Tuesday – Friday – No School – Thanksgiving Break.

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Students took the Chapter 3 Test this week. We will start lessons on Algebraic Expressions – Chapter 4.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Independent Learning – story on-line – Test is Wednesday.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Mesopotamia – Interactive Notebooks.

SCIENCE: Nature of Soil and Soil Erosion. Vocab Quiz – Monday – Open book test on Weathering and Soil next Thursday.

OTHER: Interims loaded Friday, Nov 16th.

Monday 11-19- All School Reads
No School – Tues – Thursday – Thanksgiving Break

Ask your child how they are doing with Legacy Leader Program? If your child has lower than a “C” , more than 8 Legacy marks and/or has a suspension from the office – He or she does not qualify for the 2nd grading period party – Bowling Trip.

Greetings Legacy families,

We are working on the following:

MATH: Fraction, Percent, and Decimal Equivalencies. Introducing Ratios and Integers next week.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Continuing small group Unit 2 – Animal Allies. Assessment Tuesday 10/23, Story – pg 153
Assessment Friday – 10/26 – Story pg 163

SOCIAL STUDIES: Miss Lawson will begin student teaching on Monday and will be responsible for the instruction. She will start a unit on Timelines.

SCIENCE: Quiz on 6 Earth Spheres on Tuesday.

OTHER – 1st Quarter report cards were sent home with your child today.

Parent Conferences Monday, October 22 – 3:50 – 8:00pm – for those that signed up.
Additional conference nights: Monday, October 29th – 3:50 – 8:00
and November 20th – 9:00 till 3:00.

Legacy Leader Program – Contracts were sent home with your child – please return signed. Expectations to earn the Party for 2nd quarter.
Students who earn no lower than a “C”, no more than 8 Legacy marks and no suspensions will earn the party. Ask your child how they are doing?

Greetings Legacy Families,

We are working the following:

MATH: We took the Chapter 2 test today. Next week begins chapter 3 – Equivalent Fractions.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Finishing Human Environment and Interaction.

SCIENCE: Completed our Rocks and Minerals unit. We will explore Landforms next week.

LANGUAGE ARTS: My Perspective Book – Small group learning and comparing texts.

OTHER:

Legacy Leader Program – Students who have earned less than 10 legacy marks, no suspensions from school, and earned grades no lower than a “C” earn the grading period party next Thursday. Ask your kids how they did?

Grading period Ends – Friday, October 12th.
Thursday, October 11th – Early Release Day – Dismiss at 12:20
Friday, October 12th – No School for students – In-service.

Parent Conferences – October 22, October 29th and November 20th – Sign -up papers were sent home with your child and you can sign up for a time on-line.

Welcome – Student Teacher – Social Studies – Mrs. Lawson! She will start October 15th. 🙂

Conference Sign ups

We are asking that you sign up for a window of time, and then we will assign you a 10 minute slot within that hour. You will be meeting with the team of teachers at this time. 

We will try our best to accommodate anyone who signs up by October 12. We will confirm your conference time with with you through email and paper form.  If you would prefer a phone conference please indicate that on the form. 

This is a STUDENT LED conference, so please bring your student with you to the conference.  We look forward to discussing your student’s progress with you.

MATH: Completing Chapter 2 – Distributive Property – This is a important property used throughout the school year.

SCIENCE: Completing projects on the Rock Cycle – Cartoons due Monday.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Explanatory Essays next week.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Human Environments and Interaction.

OTHER: Ask your child how they are doing with our Legacy Leader Program?
1st Grading period ends – October 11th

Early Release day – October 11th
October 12 – In-service – No school for students.

Parent Conferences – Sign -ups will be sent home with your child next week – first come first serve and we have a phone conference option.

SOCIAL STUDIES: Google Slide project due Monday. There will be a test Wed or Thurs. next week.

SCIENCE: Rock Cycle – Three types of rocks.

LANGUAGE ARTS: My Perspectives Book – Unit 2 – Hachiko story – comprehension assessment on Friday -9/28.

OTHER: Legacy Leader Program – Ask your son or daughter how they are doing with their Legacy marks? It is the student’s responsibility to inform you of their progress.

Grading period ends – October 11th.

SOCIAL STUDIES – Comparing Regions of the world. Project due next Friday.

OTHER: Interims will be sent home on Monday -Please check progress book for more accurate grade results.

LANGUAGE ARTS: Perspective English Lessons begin. Summer reading project due Sept 21st

SOCIAL STUDIES: Classifying and comparing regions project.

OTHER:

Interims loaded – sent home Fri Sept 14th.
T-shirt orders have been turned in – should take about a week to get shirts.
We continue our Legacy Leader Program – kids are having success with this. Ask your son or daughter how they are doing?
