Set Fire to the Rain

by Sarah Kaplan in Uncategorized

I was going to post a bonus point contest for the first student who could complete a series of phrases about leaping; however, in the last week, my blog has been inundated with spam, so I can’t pick through comments to find the ones that are useful.  Somehow, even my school blog, which is for educational purposes, is not immune to the immorality of people who just want to ruin things.

Anyway, it’s Leap Day.  We only get one every four years, so enjoy it.  I’m not sure how one goes about celebrating Leap Day, but I suppose today could be as good as any day to “take the leap” that you’ve been waiting for.  Just look before you take that leap of faith, or you might end up somewhere unexpected.

The First of Many

by Sarah Kaplan in Uncategorized

I’m happy to be here!

This is for many reasons.  First, it excites me to be in school.  I was getting a little antsy at the end of the summer, and let’s face it.  Mrs. Kaplan functions better on a schedule.  My summer was…well, it was up and down, and I’m sure I’ll share more of that with you as the year progresses.  The point is, I was ready to return to the school year.

I’m also happy to be here, because RHS has electricity, and this morning, my house didn’t.  I saw it coming, as the power went out at 1 a.m. so at least I wasn’t surprised.   However my breakfast of fruit and dry bread didn’t really give me as much energy as I’d like, and getting ready at school wasn’t exactly what I’d planned to do.  But, as you know, we must press on, and I’m certainly making the best out of it as I prepare for your arrival tomorrow!  I’m looking forward to seeing you and getting this year started!

Better Than a B Film

by Sarah Kaplan in Uncategorized

If you’re looking for some fun entertainment this weekend, consider coming to RHS’s fall play, A Most Curious Phenomenon.  I think you’ll like it because it’s about the perils of teenage romance.  It’s cheaper than a movie!  Check out the Drama Guild Blog for details.

In other news, Level I students should be finishing up their technical writing this week, and Level II students should be working on the first part of their essays.  Lots of writing to be done!  Keep at it!
