Attention all Boys Basketball players not in a spring sport! There is lifting today from 3-4:00 at the weight room and open gym from 4-5:30 at Stanton. That’s Boys Basketball lifting right after school today and open gym at Stanton today from 4-5:30!
Yesterday began the start of the Suburban League meet for Track and Field. There were many great performances by the Rough Riders. Most notable was Madison Mercer in the shot put. Madison is the first track athlete to be league champion is the new league. If you see her today, be sure to congratulate her. The 4×800 meter girls team were runner up league champions with the team of Kaylie Murray, Korrin Spurlock, Alexy Patz and Savanah Wills. Great job ladies!
Sports Physicals are this Saturday, May 16 from 8-11:30 am here at Roosevelt. All student-athletes entering grades 7-12 next year are eligible. $20.00! Pick up blank forms in the Athletic Office or Athletic Health Care room 137.
The Rider Baseball team beat rival Stow last night 7-5 on Senior night! Nate Hastie earned the win on the mound and Bryan McKown picked up his first save. The boys will host their first tournament game Thursday at 4:30 at Roosevelt Park.
Men’s and Ladies Track and Field teams competed yesterday in the Woodridge Stars of Track and Field Invitational. There were many great performances by both guys and girls. Some of the most notable was a blazing 1st place in the 100 meter and 2nd in the 200 meter by Allure Johnson. Additional performances were a 5th in pole vault by Helena Esparza, 3rd in 100 meter by Haneef Abdus-Shahid, and a 2nd in high jump by Emmanuel Shouse. Tony Molina should also be applauded for a whopping 15 seconds PR in the 1600 meter!
For anyone interested in running Cross Country in the fall, there will be a brief meeting after school on Tuesday, May 10th at 2:45 in the Library. See Coach Murray or Coach Brewer for details.
Attention all students that are trying out for Roosevelt Cheerleading next week-All clinic times have been changed to 6:00 to 8:00p.m. That’s Cheerleading tryout clinics Monday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 5th are now from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Roosevelt Gym. Tryouts remain at the same time on Friday, May 6th when the gym opens at 3:00 and tryouts begin at 4:00.

The Rider Baseball team lost to league rival Barberton last night 5-3. They are back in action tonight in the David Starkey Memorial vs rival Ravenna! Please come out tonight to Kent State Schoonover Stadium for a 4:00 p.m. JV game and 7:00 p.m. Varsity game under the lights to support the boys!
