Hey Riders! Cheer Clinics begin Monday, May 13th through Thursday from 3-5:00 in the gym and tryouts will be on Friday, May 17th starting at 5:00. Tryout information is available in the Athletic Office. Be sure to bring a water bottle and spirit!!
On Wednesday the Rough Rider Baseball team locked down the outright Suburban League American title with a 10-6 win at Copley! Congratulations men! Tonight we will host the 12th annual David Starkey Memorial at Kent State’s Schoonover Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. vs old rival Ravenna. Tomorrow the Riders will also host Woodridge at 7:00 p.m. in the final game of the Starkey. We look forward to seeing you under the lights!

League scorers included: Marissa Koach, Liz Wiltanger, Anna Parham, Serena Thornton, Shayla Lofton, Brooklyn Ross, Mya Budzar, Emma Valetta, Rhiannon Bryk, Melina Salisbury, Isabella McCarty, Megan Renkes, Miranda Bowser, and Yakia Lee-Johnson. Two-time 400 meter champion, Makhia Friedman not only defended her title last evening by winning the 400 and scoring 20.5 points at the league meet, but she also set a NEW school record running 58.13 seconds. Great Job Ladies!
The Boys Track & Field Team finished 6th overall at the Suburban League Meet last Night. Top finishers included: Anthony Glass 110 Hurdles / 2nd place, High Jump 6th Place, Brian Alexander 800 meters / 6th place, 1600 meters / 8th place, Jack Heiniking Pole Vault/ 5th place, Tahj Truss Shot Put / 3rd place, and Nick Rothaermal Shot Put 5th Place. The Boys Tennis team defeated Cuyahoga Falls 5-0 yesterday. Winning their matches were Erik Martin, Sam Kirbabas, Ethan Jenkins, Luke Jenkins, Zach Jenkins, Ian Mail and Patrick Gallagher. Way to go Riders!
The Rough Rider Baseball team traveled to Garfield Heights last night and picked up a non-conference win. The boys pounded out 19 hits in route to the 17-1 win in five innings. The offense was paced by Freshman Nolan Lane and Jared Dunfee, who each collected three hits on the day. Brandon Giunto, Trevor Woodward, Matt Dile and Kristian Daetwyler also had multi-hit games. Devon Stahl earned his first varsity win in relief of starter Spencer Townend. The Riders will travel to Copley today at 4:30, a win will give them the outright Suburban League American title.
The following athletes placed at the Suburban League Track Meet last night at Stow High School: Anthony Glass 2nd place long jump, Nick Rothaermal 4th place Discus, and the 4×800 relay team of Jordan Carlton, Elliot Asp, Caden Gilliland, and Brian Alexander, 5th place. Congratulations to the 2019 Suburban League Champion Roosevelt Baseball team! With the 10 inning win over league rival Tallmadge, the boys clinched at least a share of the title and will travel to Copley Wednesday to try and win it outright. The boys have also earned the number 4 seed in the Hudson District and will host Maple Heights next Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
