BRANCHING OUT, December 2016

Dear Students, Parents, and Friends of Theodore Roosevelt High School,

This past Tuesday we were excited to induct 60 students into our National Honor Society.   Selection is based upon four criteria:  scholarship, leadership, service, and character.  We are proud of our new inductees and impressed by their many accomplishments.  We are especially grateful to the members of National Honor Society for modeling The Roosevelt Way for all of our students.

Preparation for semester exams should be in progress as the exams are less than three weeks away.  Exam grades reflect student effort and knowledge of course content up to this point in the school year.  The first quarter grade is worth 40% of the semester grade.  The second quarter grade is worth 40% of the semester grade.  Exam scores are significant because they comprise twenty percent of the first semester grade.

Students will begin the scheduling process early in the second semester.  Roosevelt High School is committed to providing relevant courses to prepare our students for success in our continuously changing society.  Students’ future schedules will be based upon various student data points, teacher/counselor/parent recommendations and student interest. Scheduling early for the 2016-17 school year will ensure appropriate course placement.

The month of December is an extremely eventful one.  The winter sport season is already underway.  We also look forward to the numerous choir and band holiday performances.  Listed below are some important December happenings.

            December 1:              Interim Reports Distributed

                                                       Silent Auction Prom Fundraiser – 6:30 p.m.

December 19-21:    Semester Exams – Exam Schedule will be                                                           posted online

While there are many exciting events at Roosevelt, we are also aware that the holiday season can be a challenging and stressful time for many.  We will do our best to make certain that Roosevelt continues to be a warm, caring, and consistent environment for all of our students.

Warmest regards for a very happy and safe holiday season.
