Canned Food Drive – Nov. 16-21, 2009
The RHS Annual Canned Food Drive will take place November 16th-21st. This year, Student Council and the Leadership Retreat Planning Committee are working closely to continue our tradition of collecting as many canned goods as possible. Our goal this year is to exceed 16,000 cans in hopes to make a difference in as many lives as we can this holiday season. We invite the community and students to participate in this event.
The class competition will take place during first period classes Monday, Nov. 16 – Friday, Nov. 20. The first period class that brings in the most items by the end of the week will be provided a breakfast compliments of Student Council, in addition to all the glory that comes with being the winner! For your convenience, we have attached a Canned Food Conversion Chart so that students may be aware of the point system.
The Community Day will be Saturday, November 21, 2009. On this day, Roosevelt students will be going to Kent neighborhoods from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm to collect any donations that are left on the front doorstep. Families are asked to have items out by 8:00 am. NOTE: If no one comes to pick up your donations, please drop them off between 8:00 am – 12:00 pm in the Theodore Roosevelt High School Cafeteria.
Remember, this event is something that unites not only Roosevelt, but our community as well. We are counting on the Kent and Roosevelt communities to help us reach our goal and pull off a successful Canned Food Drive!
Thank you for all your support,
Student Council Executive Board
Roosevelt Students Discuss Character
On Friday, October 30, twelve senior students took a couple hours out of their day to visit Stanton during lunch. Jordan Bedell, Abby Bradford, Katie Breiding, Alyssa Bush, Anastasia Ehlert, Emily Hook, Jordyn Kovolyan, Dalton Lee, Manuel Rocha, John Robison, Marcus Rogers, and Liz Thomas interacted with the middle school students, discussing the importance of character and making good decisions to help promote Red Ribbon Week. Their involvement was well-received by the middle school students. Thanks again, to these high school seniors for taking the time to share their ideas with younger students in our district!
