Women’s Network/Judith Resnick Scholarship Fund

Scholarship fund established to inspire young women to pursue science and engineering degrees.  One $1,000 scholarship available to a Summit, Stark, Portage, Wayne or Medina County student.  3.0 gpa requirement.  Deadline 3/31.

Ohio Newspapers Foundation  is offering a $1,500 scholarships to a minority journalism student.  Go to WWW.OHIONEWS.ORG and click on ‘Scholarships’.   Deadline is March 31.

StudentScholarships.org   This web site offers information on scholarships available throughout the country.  You may need to register and spend some time surfing the site – but we’ve found quite a few that our students should be applying for.  Some examples:Odenza Marketing Award:  $500  3/30 deadline

U.S. Bank Scholarship Program – Forty $1,000.00 scholarships will be awarded.  Winners are accepted AT RANDOM.  Apply online at usbank.com/scholarship until March 31, 2012.

Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools is offering scholarships for post-secondary training.  Go to www.ohiocareercolleges.org for more information or pick up an application in the Guidance Office.

BK Scholars – Sponsored by Burger King, scholarships are awarded in $50,000, $25,000, $5,000 or $1,000 amounts.  Eligibility and how to apply:  http://www.haveityourwayfoundation.org/bksp_scholarship_eligibility.html 

SevenSeventeenCredit Union awards eight scholarships to members of their union or the legal dependent of a member.  One scholarship goes to a U Akron and one to Youngstown State U.  Two scholarships are awarded to Kent State U students.  Winners are chosen by the financial aid department at the respective universities.   The four remaining scholarships are awarded to members of the cha-ching Teen Club and the edge club – both clubs are part of the SevenSeventeen company.  Deadline April 1.  Application available at www.sscu.net.

Best Buy Scholarship Program:  Grades 9-12; solid grades plus community service or work experience.  Apply at www.bestbuy-communityrelations.com or www.at15.com.  Deadline February 15.  

WoodLINKS USA Exceptional Student Scholrship for a student actively pursing a post-secondary woodworking technology area of study.  $500 is available.  Apply at www.woodlinksusa.org      Deadline April 12

Portage County Insurance Agencies Association is offering a renewable scholarship for a Kent State student.  2.5 gpa requirement.  Application available at www.kent.edu/financialaid/scholarships.  Deadline March 15.

Portage County NAACP is offering one full tuition renewable scholarship for a Portage County resident plannign to attend Kent State  University.  Application can be found at:  www.kent.edu/financialaid/scholarships    Deadline is April 2.

William D. Squires Educational Foundation, Inc. is offering 15 scholarships for the Class of 2012.  The aware is $3,000 per year and is renewable with a value up to $12,000.  Applicants must have an EFC under $8,000.  (Information available with FAFSA). Applications available at:  www.wmdsquiresfoundation.org.  Postmark Deadline is April 5.

 

The BigSun Organizationis proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Deadline        -  June 22, 2012    Amount of Award  -        $500.00
