Local Scholarships – 2018

The following local scholarships are available to the Class of 2018.  Please check the chart periodically as new scholarships will be added as they are received.  Please note the deadline date.  Follow the scholarship directions.  Some scholarships are to be returned directly to the sponsor and not returned to Guidance.

“Ludie Brown Scholarship” $500 3.0 GPA, student who was raised by a grandmother or great aunt
“Brady Lake Women’s Club Scholarship” $1,000 Reside in Brady Lake area; pursuing higher ed.  Will award two scholarships
“Lois Campana Nursing Scholarship” $500 minimum 2.5 GPA; pursuing a nursing career; involvement in school and/or community
“Henry & Francis Christenson” $3,000 Academic ability and financial need
“Davey Elementary PTO Scholarship” $500 Davey alum
“Robert Fankhauser Memorial Scholarship” $1,500 3.0 GPA and planning to major in criminal justice or law related
“Fergason Family Scholarship” $2,000 Pursuing a career in the STEM fields; two letters of rec; autobiographical essay
“Garden Club of Kent” $1,000 Horticulture or environmental science interest
“Garrett Family Scholarship” $2,000 KSU education major, commuter, financial need
“Paula Hankins Memorial Scholarship” $500 Currently active in drama program
“Beth Hodgeman (Gonos) Memorial Scholarship” $1,000 KSU student with strong dedicated volunteer work
“Holden Elementary Scholarship” $500 Holden alum
“KACC Dan Smith Memorial” Varies 2.5 GPA; Participation & commitment to school and/or community
“KEA Future Teacher Scholarship” $1000, non-renewable, one-time Declaration of Education as the major field of study
“The Keith and Betty Bowers Scholarship” $2,000 3.0 GPA, participation in school or community activities, financial need
“KCS Foundation Hall of Fame Scholarship” $500 Outstanding leadership qualities
“Kent Firefighters Association Donald Beckett Memorial Scholarship” $1,000 Career in fire service or medical field
“Kent Junior Mothers Lisa Hawthorne” $500 Must have worked Safety School for one summer
“Kent Lions Club John Ferlito Memorial Scholarship” $500 2.5 GPA, service in the community and volunteering
“Kent Police & Citizen Association” $1,000 Community service, positive role model, community service career
“Huber King Art Scholarship” $1000 2.5 GPA; Major in art or art appreciation;possible renewal if GPA and course of study maintened
“League of Women Voters” $200 Academic achievement; essay
“Longcoy” $500 Longcoy alum; exemplary character traits; 3.0 GPA
“Parker Hannifin” $1,000 Pursuing a 4-year technical degree.
“Portage Community Bank” $1,000 3.0 GPA; well rounded student involved in school activities, community service and athletics
“Portage County Retired Teachers” $1,500 County wide scholarship for aspiring teachers
“Ravenna Chapter 46 Order of the Eastern Star” $500 2.5 GPA, financial need
“Rough Rider All Sports Boosters Scholarship “ $500 Awarded to two female and two male graduating senior athletes, 2.0 or gather GPA, lettered in one sport
