Spanish I: Full year – One Credit – Grades 9-12
Prerequisites: None

Course Description:
Emphasis is placed upon developing a strong foundation in listening, speaking, reading and writing the language. This will be accomplished via a multi-media approach, as well as traditional linguistic methods. Instruction focuses on students using language in activities embedded in real-life contexts.
Spanish II: Full year – One Credit – Grades 10-12
Prerequisites: Spanish I

Course Description:
The second year course is basically a continuation of the first year; the exception being that the student will delve deeper into authentic language use in real-life situations. The second year students are expected to gain holistic communication skills (verbal, listening, reading and writing). An emphasis in second year is place upon expansion of verb tenses.
Spanish III: Full year – One Credit – Grades 11-12
Prerequisites: Spanish II

Course Description:
In Spanish III students will gain facility in oral and written expression through continued development of grammar and vocabulary. They will be introduced to longer literary selections using written, auditory and visual formats thus expanding their reading and oral comprehension. Students will also continue learning about a variety of Hispanic cultures.
Spanish IV: Full year – One Credit – Grade 12
Prerequisites: Spanish III
Fee: $19.00
Course Description:
Spanish IV aims to prepare the student for success at the college or university level whether on placement exams or in the classroom. Short stories, poetry, drama, and conversational material will all come under the scrutiny of the advanced student. In-depth vocabulary and grammar will be emphasized together with oral and written expression of ideas relating to contemporary topics.
