Goal Book Guidelines
Goal Book Guidelines
Create a goal book using the five goals that you feel will have the most impact on your future. Use any resources (colored pencils/markers, magazines, photos, computer graphics, etc.) available to complete ONE PAGE for each goal. Compile these pages, along with a front and back cover, and securely bind the pages together with staples, string, or brads. Each goal page should be identified with the goal title, have eye appeal, and include the elements listed below. The layout of the goal pages is up to you. Remember that the brain thinks in pictures! Have fun!
Elements of Goal Setting
Each of the five goals should have the following questions answered on the back of the goal page.
1. Realistic: Is the goal possible? How realistic is this goal? Have you set yourself up to fail?
2. Specific and Measurable: Is there a deadline for the goal? What time limits must be set in order to meet the goal? How will you know that you have succeeded?
3. Affordable: Is there an amount of money that is to be spent/saved? How much time or energy must you spend each week to reach this goal? Can you afford to give up, change, adapt, or redesign? Will reaching this goal influence friendships, a possible marriage, time spent with future children, etc?
4. Resources needed: What abilities, skills, tools, education, and personal qualities must be used to reach this goal? Who will support you as you attempt to reach this goal?
5. Rewards: What positives will be gained? Will your life change for the better because of your efforts? How? How will you judge whether reaching the goal has been worth the effort? How will you reward yourself along the way to keep yourself motivated?
