We will be writing a research paper in ELA for the next two weeks. Students will be doing an iSearch in which they choose the research of their choice. The theme for this paper is Survival. During these two weeks all work will be done in class. There will be no ELA homework.

Week of August 28, 2017 through September 1, 2017

This week we will be finishing our Word Study Unit. There will be an assessment this Thursday. Students are be expected to know the definition of all of the affixes/root words and use them to determine the meaning of words. A study guide was given to students last Thursday. I have been emphasizing the important study skill of studying a few words each night.

Learning Standard: Language (L.6.4) – Vocabulary Acquisition and Use

Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade 6 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies

  • Use common, grade-appropriate Greek or Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word.
