I heard so many great things about Forestry 2 after the field trip to West Branch today. I believe this has not only been a great lesson in horticulture today but a great lesson in communication. Many exped students were thankful for all the help from Forestry students as we achieved more work than was expected.

October 4th, 2011Mark Noark and some other recruiter trainers are teaching arborist training at corporate headquarters and in Standing Rock cemetery this week. We may be able to join some of the training with the big boys.
Visit from Heath Greene
October 3rd, 2011Heath Greene graduate of Forestry/Landscape Management stopped in to visit and promote employment at Vismeg Landscape Contractors. He shared some current pruning techniques he has been using in the field. He also talked about his current assignment as a foreman taking care of a ninety acre condominium retirement community.

September 26th, 2011Last week we were asked to help out at the stadium, we had fun with Mark as he showed us how he mowed the football field. We also identified some of the different grasses in the field.

Welcome Back
September 6th, 2011Happy to everyone back in school and back in Urban Forestry! I was especially pleased with everyone’s summer employment and how it is relating to content from the first year of class. I can’t wait to start a project that is lined up at the Fairways at Twin Lakes, this project will enable us to learn turf grass management from a golf course superintendent.
