I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on April 15, 1954. (You do the math!) I have three sisters; one in Kent, one in Oregon, and one in Michigan.
I have been a teacher for 33 years at Longcoy, Central, Holden, and Stanton. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Recreation, a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education 1-8, and a Master’s of Education degree in Gifted Education. I have lived in Kent since 1974, and I love teaching in this town!
I am the mother of two adult children, both graduates of Theodore Roosevelt High School. Morgan, my daughter, is 29 , graduated from The Ohio State University, where she earned a degree in Criminology, and lives in San Antonio, Texas, with her husband, Alan. She is a Fraud Investigator for USAA Bank, and Alan is the head flight instructor for New Braunfels Municipal Airport near San Antonio. I love to visit them there, especially during the winter! My son, Tyler, is 26, lives in Kent (but not at home). After completing his degree in Computer Science at Kent State University in December of 2013, he now works as a Web Developer for the university. He recently became engaged to his lovely girlfriend, Jennifer!
I have several hobbies in which I like to dabble. I crochet and knit, and I love to spin yarn from fluffy fiber. I even spun enough to knit a whole sweater for the winter! I’ll let you know when I wear it. I love to know the names of the sheep from whom the fiber came. Ask me about Theo the Corriedale sheep, Dove the Shetland sheep, and Olivia the alpaca. I also sew small knitting project bags and sell them in area shops. Some of them went to a show in New York City, and some of them sold in a show in Portalnd, Oregon. I am learning how to weave the Navajo way, but I am not very far along.
Flower gardening is a favorite of mine until the weeds get the better of me. I also like to cook a variety of foods, but don’t like cleaning up the mess I make in the kitchen! I have a sweet little sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) named Katie and her antics keep me entertained and busy. She is a hilarious little peanut!
Now you know a little bit about me!
