Week of March 4th


I would like to thank the following 2nd graders for helping us celebrate Black History Month by sharing information on morning announcements.  This past week we celebrated Hip-Hop music.

I would also like to thank Joy Freeman and Chris Holmes for helping Holden celebrate music by providing live examples of gospel music (Joy) and African drumming(Chris).  There was a lot of dancing and celebrating on Tuesday.

We have one game left on Friday, March 8th.  Report time is at 5:00.  It is against the University of Akron.  There may be a tournament game that Kent State would be hosting.  We will find out if we need to usher a game this weekend.  The game would take place sometime next week.  

Mobile Dentist has rescheduled the date.  Information should have been sent home with your child on Friday.

Monday, March 4 – HSA meeting from 6:00-7:00

Thursday, March 7 – Holden is hosting the 5 year strategic planning meeting in the gym. 6:00-7:15.  This is being run by Kent City Schools.  

Friday, March 8 – 4th and 5th grade talent show – 2:15

Friday, March 8 – 5:00 Ushering Kent State Basketball Game (we still need 1 person)

Monday, March 11 – 6:30 – 8:00  Grades K-3 Spring Concert and Art Show – Book Fair will be open for all families K-5.  6:40-7:00 Kindergarten and 2nd grade music concert.  7:20-7:40 1st and 3rd grade music concert.

Tuesday, March 12-13 – Spring Book Fair Open for classrooms to shop

Thursday, March 14 – Early Release – Students leave at 1:00

Friday, March 15 – No School for students

Tuesday, March 19 – Student Council

Friday, March 22 – Report Cards Go Home

Monday, March 25 – Spring Break Begins

Monday, April 1 – School Resumes

**  Students in grades 3-5 will be involved in state testing during the month of April.  A schedule for the testing period will be sent home soon.
