This website is meant to help keep you connected with our class. Please browse through the pages to help you get an idea of what we have been doing this year.
If your child needs extra practice with our word wall words, or when we have a long break, I would suggest visiting the word wall page and doing some of the slide shows. We have already done them in class and your child will know just what to do. They are great reading practice!
A big change this year happened with our “specials” schedules. We have implemented a rotating schedule of specials (PE, Music, Art, and Library) that allows us to have a consistent classroom schedule. Basically, we have one special per day at exactly the same time each day. As an example, this means we will not always have PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you go to the calendar page, you will see the specials listed in case you have lost your schedule that was sent home. The calendar also has our early release days and other days off to help you stay organized.
We also now have pictures from many parts of our year posted on the password protected page. I sent home the password in a newsletter. If you don’t have it, please email me and I will send it to you. This page might be fun to share with family members who do not live in Ohio. Grandparents love seeing what the kids are doing in class.
The page called “Let’s Talk” is also password protected using the same password. On this page, you or your child can type questions or comments. As the kids are learning keyboarding skills, this can be a fun way to practice writing to me and/or their friends. Since anyone visiting the site will be able to see the comments, please use other methods of contacting me for questions specific to your child.
First grade is VERY busy. I will try to keep this site updated. If you have any suggestions or requests for what is included, please feel free to contact me!
