A Black History Month Celebration

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month (history.com)

Davey Staff and Students celebrated the culmination of activities through the month in an assembly on Friday, February 24, 2012. Students from every grade level presented the accomplishments of African Americans through spoken word, art and song.

Thank you for those who attended this special event. The students were proud of their projects and presentations. A special thank you to the choir for sharing their songs with us. The lyrics resonated in each one of us and we left the program with a renewed hope.
