To the Kent community:
Roosevelt Concert Band and Wind Symphony performing at Severance Hall
On Sunday, January 29, the Roosevelt Concert Band and Wind Symphony will play at Severance Hall! This is the first time that Roosevelt High School has been invited to perform at the Northeast Ohio Band Invitational. Roosevelt’s bands will play at 6 p.m. following one-hour concerts by four other schools. Tickets are available in the RHS Band office for $10 each.
Congratulations to Dr. John Roebke and all our music teachers for this impressive recognition. The Kent community is proud of its rich musical tradition and history with more than 300 of our high school students involved in marching and concert band, wind symphony, jazz and pep bands, as well as orchestra and choral groups. Our student musicians are committed to reaching the highest levels of success, both musically and academically. Opportunities and experiences gained in performances like these, as well as in practices, private lessons and competitions, ultimately help our student musicians meet life’s challenges.
See “You…The Artist” film
A combined group of Elementary and Middle School students produced a 25-minute documentary highlighting the Kent Creativity Festival, which took place on the Lester Lefton Esplanade at Kent State University in September. The film includes interviews with participants, committee members and other professionals. According to teacher Chip Hawks, the film chronicles the year of planning and preparation for the festival, and our students are already working on a documentary for next year. Here is a link to the video. “YOU. . .THE ARTIST!”
